Cookie Monsters and Birthdays

So my mom is by far one of the best bakers I know! Every year she alway makes the wonderful cookie trays and gives them to close friends and family. So this year she came up to Spokane to bake with me, my older sister and my sister in-law Marta. I had been telling Marta about how great my mom was baking. Marta was very excited about baking because she hadn't done much and I was excited to show her and have my mom show how to bake. My mom arrived at 12:00 and we baked till 3:00pm. We baked up a storm. We made sugar cookies, gingerbread men, jam thumb print, peanut butter blossoms, peanut butter balls, toffee, davinaty(not sure how to spell that). It was pretty spectacular and a really great time with the girls. The Boys wishing they had teeth so they could eat cookiesThe head chef "mom"

Later on the same day we celebrated Ben's birthday! He turned 27(what an oldie). His mom made a nice dinner and his dad made a vegan choc. and peanut butter cake! It was a great celebration with family. The boots were made for walking...Happy birthday Ben

Epic Snow

So for all of you who are from Spokane all ready know first hand about the weather that we have been experiencing, this is for all the out of town friends. This winter Spokane broke records that were over a 100 years old. It snowed 18 inches in one day! It didn't just stop there it continued to dump on us for about three days. In our back yard it measured about 3.5 feet. We then continued to get several other storms dumping 6 inches and Christmas Eve we got another 6 or so inches. Here are some pics of our back yard and the dogs playing in the snow.

Kiss Kiss

I know I haven't blogged about Christmas yet, mainly because I know it will take a small chunk of time. I had to blog about this very little moment between me an River because it was so sweet.

River has been very clingy this week. He has been screaming from the minute I leave him with someone else until the moment I arrive home. He also hasn't been allowing people other than me to feed him bottles or solid food. My days have been filled with picking up and setting him down. It is nice to be so important and needed in someones life but it has been getting a little tiering and slightly inconvenient.

So for New Years Eve the plan was to leave the little guys with Grandma Pat and Auntie Rosie while me and the hubby got to go out and ring in the New Year. I was a little nervous about how River was going to do judging by how he had been earlier this week. Needless to say Grandma Pat took over the twins around 5:00pm till about 9:00 am in the morning. It sounded like the boys did great and didn't give Grandma or Auntie a hard time.

So I wake up New Years morning to Pat making coffee and hanging out with the little guys. I walk into the room sit down on the floor near the boys and say "morning boys(which is how I alway greet them in the morning). Little River comes crawling towards me as fast as his little hand and knees can move. Climbs up into my lap throwing arms around my neck saying mamamamama over and over and then planting two kisses on my cheek. Oh my heart just melted those were Rivers first kisses and I will never forget them. What a great beginning to 2009!
